"AIDS and Other People: Trust, Government and Community in New Orleans," presented by Dr. Lily Lucas Hodges.
Dr. Hodges is an Assistant Instructional Professor of History at Chapman University in California, where they teach popular courses on LGBTQ+ history and the AIDS epidemic. Drawing from their original research on the epidemic in New Orleans, their talk considers how the city's experience both mirrored national trends and originated extraordinary responses. Issues of power and responsibility, community and race, and above all - trust - lead to new questions: why was trust from other people lacking, and how do we move towards greater trust today?
This event is part of the Archive's Project ongoing series: the New Orleans AIDS Memory Project (NOAMP)
